Since its appearance on the artistic scene in 1994, Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker has already staged Vulcao, Velox, Mix, Rota, Casa and 4por4, presented with success in countries such as England, Italy, Germany, Austria, France, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Argentina, Colombia and Chile. With Mix, the choreographer won, in 2001, the Lawrence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, one of the most prestigious awards of the London stage.
In 2004 The Dance Consortium presented Colker’s Rota in a tremendously successful UK Tour. Now, Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker return to the stage with a show lasting 59 minutes, which retains the intense communication with her public and at the same time, excites its senses and gets it to investigate parts so far unexplored within.
The new show Knot, explores the hidden depths of human desire. Brutal and beautiful, this astonishingly sexy show is an intrepid exploration of bodily freedom – and erotic constraint. With sixteen stunning dancers, including Deborah Colker herself, this is a landmark show of both deep philosophical enquiry and unfettered physical expression. The result is electrifying, and transfuses the company’s inimitable Brazilian beat to your feet – your flesh – and your heart.
Two-years in the making Knot is co-directed by Flavio Colker, and boasts costumes by Alexandre Herchcovitch, a striking set featuring 120 ropes and knots, and a transparent display box, inspired by Amsterdam’s Red Light District and designed by Gringo Cardia.
Definitely not for the faint-hearted, Knot is simply unforgettable international dance for the daring.
“When I began to work on the theme of desire I found myself facing the subject of domination relationships: the one who dominates and the one who is dominated” Deborah Colker
